Adding Amazon Affiliate Links to a Squidoo Lens

A client asked me to make a video about putting Amazon products into the lens, so here it is - using text-based links and the Buy Button image via SquidUtils.com.

Any more questions, post them and I’ll answer :)

    Hi Tiff,

Thanks for promoting my tool - your video is excellent! Can I embed it into the accompanying lens? (http://www.squidoo.com/amazon-links/) I’ll credit you and your blog of course.

Also, here’s a quick tip: instead of hunting for the ASIN of an item, you can just copy the entire URL that appears in your browser, and paste that into the tool. It will then figure out what the ASIN is automatically.

    Cheers,

    Sure you can!

Tiff, that’s a great video. I’m new to Squidoo, and have two questions. First, how did you make the video? Second, do you have to share your Amazon revenue with Squidoo? Thanks.

  • tiffadmin:

    Hi Dough Roller,

    #1 using Camtasia

#2 if you use an amazon module you do, but with text links no - and no with the little buy box I grabbed from squidutils :)

  • DR:

Tiff, thanks so much for the reply. Stupid question of the day: If you don’t share Amazon rev with text links and the buy box, why on earth would anybody use the Amazon module?

  • tiffadmin:

DR, the Amazon modules give you a share in the profits as a co-op. They have good graphics - more so than a text link. Plus, it’s why Squidoo it free! I use them with a mix and I have a sneaking suspicion that having “money modules” on a lens help it in lensrank, although I’m not sure.

Hi Tiffany, I just found this video and while it is excellent I think it is dated. It is now 2009 I’m trying to make a lens and the intro module is now very plain. There is no “Word” like box that comes up to click on Html where you can make a text link from Amazon. Can you update the info or please email me how I make a highlighted word in my intro module that when clicked on will take someone to the page on Amazon I want them to go to? Thanks dawn
