IPK Versus Squidoo Lens Update 11/19/08

Okay so in keeping up with my testing, I created the Elmo Live lens to compete with my Elmo Live dot info domain that I created by following Info Product Killer. It took about 24-48 hours for the website to get indexed. I’m getting GREAT traffic for one of the dolls in particular - have top spot for that. I don’t want to tell which one, of course.

I loved how he taught us to create depth pages with other keywords. For example, on his Bumblebee Transformers page, he had a page bolding the keywords “cheap,” “yellow,” “robotic,” etc. I did that and that’s how I’ve captured top spot for another Elmo doll.

My Squidoo lens took FOREVERRRRRRRRRRRRR to get indexed, which is very unusual! I linked to it from other highly indexed lenses, and from EZA, etc., but it sat stagnant until yesterday! That was very annoying.

Just started seeing search engine traffic to it today. Whew! Just in time for Christmas ;) So we’ll see how it goes. I’m still selling some Elmo dolls via Amazon. I will admit this year is MUCH slower than last year (hello, rotten economy!). Last year from October 1st on I was making great money, and even on established pages, it’s slow. But maybe it’ll pick up close to Christmas. I know I’m shopping late this year myself.

I’ll keep ya updated! You let me know too how YOUR Squidoo versus domain journey is going. I’m gonna put up some other lenses today that compete with my other dot info domains for the IPK strategy.

IPK Squidoo Versus Domains Update

So you know I’m doing this thing where I set up my dot info domains along with my Squidoo lenses to see how they compete with one another in the SERPs, right? Well my Elmo Live lens? Nowhere on Google’s radar yet. And my lenses normally get gobbled up fast!

However, my dot info domain is bringing in some GOOD targeted traffic. I even updated my page to put some extra links because one of my depth pages for this product is #1 in Google for many keywords. It’s awesome! And since they’re typing in product names, they’re looking to buy.

I’m curious as to how the URLs will compete once I have the Squidoo lens indexed.

Info Product Killer Squidoo Versus Domains Case Study

Okay so my Elmo site is live but I’m tweaking little things as I get through his course, like my Meta tags, tiny little SEO things I had forgotten. Still need to do that.

Last night had two more sales of Elmo Live plus many more sales of other stuff - maybe add-ons maybe unique buyers.

I set up my Elmo Live Squidoo lens to compete with my domain, too. I did have 1 clickout in my 17 visitors go through my text link to Amazon, so they may have purchased.

The bad thing is I won’t know which site - domain or lens - gave me the sale. But I’m assuming both sets of visitors will be targeted, so what I’m going to judge by is the traffic volume and SERP ratings (as well as PageRank) that they get as a comparison.

Right now I’m having a ghostwriter do the content for my parent and other 3 baby sites. I am too busy to do it or I would myself. I also told her once she finishes, take the exact content she did and rewrite it all for Squidoo. So I’ll get two sets.

Now my Squidoo LENS has a disadvantage - my dot info domain has several depth pages pointing to the index page. But my lens just has the one page. To make up for that, I linked to it from my Top Toddler Toys lens. I put it in the Explore More section.

I also submitted 2-3 articles on EZA for my elmolivesesame site and I’ll do the same for my lens now.

Case Study for Info Product Killer on Squidoo

So a FLOOD of the same question came in today after I promoted Info Product Killer on my Tiffany Dow blog. The question on everyone’s mind was, “Does Info Product Killer work on Squidoo?”

I understand them wanting to know - who wants to buy domains and use code to build a website? Well first of all, I got a template with my purchase of Info Product Killer - so that took care of the tech dummy issue. I got domains from godaddy that were 99 cents - the dot info domains. The way he teaches this, I don’t think a dot com is a necessity.

So now comes my challenge: I decided I’m going to expose my products and my success but NOT the formula I’m using to achieve success because then that’s not fair to the product owner who created this wonderful system.

I own the following domains for the project:

Christmas Top Toys

Elmo Live Sesame - This is the one I started with before I READ through his course and WATCHED the videos - I got ahead of myself. So this is the only one partially complete so far and it didn’t use his template but I DO have another niche running with a domain I’ll not mention here because it doesn’t have anything to do with this Christmas connection.

WowWee Dragonfly

Furreal Biscuit

Bakugan Battle Brawlers 6 Pack

Just now, I registered the following Squidoo lens URLs:

Christmas Top Toys

Elmo Live Sesame

WowWee Dragonfly

Furreal Friends Biscuit: Okay this sucks - they were all identical in creation to the domain names except for the Furreal Biscuit domain. Someone had already taken that lens URL so I added the word Friends in the middle. Oh well, it’s close. The rest are identical to my dot info domains.

Bakugan Battle Brawlers 6 Pack

Right now I have one page on my Elmo site - that’s it. But I have content I’m ready to add to it - just going to hand it over to my husband so I can work on other stuff while he uploads and hyperlinks.

Now I’m going to work on them at the same time - I have an Elmo page so I’ll create my elmo lens. Since my domain can have pages linking to it, I won’t have that - I could - I could do a lens for each keyword, but I won’t. I’ll add a module instead because that’s how I roll - the lazy girl’s way :)

Stay tuned!
