Ever Issues and Challenge LensRank Update
Hi Lensmasters!
Couple of things to address today. First, I posted in SquidU to give all of our lenses some exposure and I had hear directly from Squidoo Staff complimenting me on the challenge idea. Looks like some sourpuss went around and rated some of the lenses 1-star.
They came from the blog here, which I had posted in the SquidU forum. Don’t let them get you down – they just don’t like ME because I market on Squidoo and teach others how to do it. They’re ignorant, so ignore them and go on with your lenscrafting.
Someone asked about indexing in Google. What I do is go to Google.com and in the search box, type in my lens URL. If it’s indexed, it’ll show up. If it’s not, it won’t. Sorry I don’t know what an indirect link is in Google.
Frankie had this Bug Alert: “A major problem I ran into last night: the text/write module is really messed up. I’d make changes (had images and links to sites) and it’d come back with really old stuff, over and over again. I put in a bug report. So, now I have several modules that cannot be published because others are screwed up! If they don’t fix it soon, I’ll have to copy stuff out and try to delete the messed up modules — however, there’s a problem doing that sometimes too — they mysteriously pop back up!”
Also, a client of mine read Social Networking on Squidoo and wants to know how I make Amazon buy buttons in my text modules, so I’m going to create a video tutorial on that later today and post it to YouTube. I’ll probably post it here, too. But my username on YouTube is TiffanyDow (original, eh?) so you can look it (and other Squidoo videos) up there.
Already solved - see in comments:Also, Frankie and Linette – I’m confused. All of our pages are superlative.word.ever.com and yours is http://www.squidoo.com/funniest-calvin-and-hobbes-ever and http://www.squidoo.com/best-decorative-christmas-tree-themes-ever - so how did you create your to look like an Ever page? It’s already in Google, but since it’s tacked onto Squidoo. Were they created via Ever.com?

Are You the Best Challenger Ever?
Hi Challengers!
Well I JUST got started today really altering my Ever page. I have a good idea for it though but it’ll take time. Remember with your Ever pages that the key to success is good content!
Don’t just spin it on autopilot and leave it as is because with an Ever page, Squidoo does reserve the right to repossess your page and give it to a lensmaster who’s more deserving if you let it sit stagnant and too plain Jane (sorry Janes of the world).
So here’s where we stand today and I want the FIRST person who gets indexed in Google to come here and shout about it!

Are You the Best.Lensmaster.Ever?
UPDATE: Lewis Smile has kindly offered to take care of the other tasks that we normally do for BuildMyLens customers, so you WILL get bookmarking, tagging, etc. - thanks, Lewis!! Be sure to check out his blog SquidooCool.com during the challenge for some helpful tips on how to win!
READ the RULES below!
Thanks to Kevin Davis, I’m up to creating a new Squidoo Challenge. But let’s make it fun. How about we compete for the highest Squidoo ranking with an Ever lens?
In case you’re not familiar with it, Squidoo partnered with someone (I forget who) and launched Ever.com. Here’s how the site works:
1.) You pick a superlative (best, worst, sexiest, zanniest - whatever).
2.) You enter your topic (I own best.marketer.ever and best.forum.ever)
3.) You click Go and let it partially build your page.
4.) You claim it.
And for the contest…
5.) You spend the next 2 weeks (give or take a few days) trying to make it rank highest to win a prize. Whoever ranks highest on the LAST day wins.
So what’s the prize? Hmmm…everyone has my Squidoo eBook, so how about this? You choose 1 pack from my PLR mini mart and I will alter the articles a bit and create a lens for you on Squidoo like I do for my BuildYourLens.com customers.
Sound good?
If you’re brave enough, zanny enough, and insane enough to toss your hat into the ring, post in the comments that you want in.
RULES:Then on Saturday, November 10th, you post your URL here and I’ll track it as time passes. Do NOT register your lens before Saturday, November 10th - it has to be newly created on THAT day. the contest will end on November 30th.
Any questions? Ask and I’ll reply asap!

Help Missing Kids on Squidoo for My Birthday!
This coming week is my 37th birthday (July 3rd to be exact), and I want a birthday present from you! That’s right – I’m launching a July Squidoo challenge and as my birthday present, I’d like as many people to participate as possible because it’s going to be a special one.
This time, we’re all going to build a lens for the Polly Klaas foundation about a missing child. If you look at my current lens (ranked #1 in Non-Profits & Volunteering), you’ll see what I have done to showcase little Madeleine McCaan and another child who was lost through the cracks.
Here’s the link: http://www.squidoo.com/pollyklaas/missingchild
Why will this be a gift to me? Well when I was five years old, my best friend in the world was a little boy named Tony. We did everything together and vowed we’d be married one day.
One morning, I woke up and my mom told me he’d been kidnapped out of his bed in the middle of the night. I was petrified. I learned years later that he had been kidnapped by the father he had never met, a stranger to him. I finally got reunited with him when we were 16, but he was a lost soul and horribly confused.
No, it wasn’t a child predator abduction, but the results and devastation were the same to those of us “left behind.” When I read stories about kids like Shawn Hornbeck, who was abducted and sat waiting in the clutches of a pedophile for FOUR years for someone to rescue him, I feel like I have to use any means necessary of contributing help.
As a marketer, you have ‘net savvy others don’t possess. You have the talent to spread the word virally. What if I’d had a lens on Shawn and someone in the same apartment complex had surfed the ‘net and found it on Squidoo and called police four years earlier? (Well, Squidoo wasn’t live yet then, but you know what I mean.)
Here’s what I want you to do: Go to Squidoo at http://www.squidoo.com and set up a free account if you don’t have one already. Takes a minute or less. Then, on July 3rd, create a lens on a specific missing child we need to help find.
After creating your lens that day (not before!!) come here and give me your lens URL. I want us all to use this challenge to test our Squidoo skills, but also to cross-promote each other’s lenses and help them get lots of exposure to the world.
Not sure who to build the lens about? Go to http://www.pollyklaas.org/ and click on the missing children link on the left sidebar. You can choose by the state or year missing, and don’t just choose recent abductions – keep Shawn in mind when choosing a child to showcase.
During the competition, do some research on the case and see if you can help this child get found. With the world full of so many pedophiles, there’s a good chance they haven’t been killed, but are actually being kept hostage for years and years.
The winner of the challenge will be whoever has the highest overall LensRank on the last day of July. I’ll give them three things: A copy of my Social Networking on Squidoo eBook, a copy of my Building an eBook Empire eBook (both with all bonuses), and $100 cash sent via PayPal to you from me.
Leave me a comment and let me know if you are going to participate!
And thanks for the birthday present, if you are ![]()

And the Winner Is…
Hi Challengers!
Congratulations, Tricia! You won the April Squidoo Challenge of the Lensmasters. Great job! If you send me your email, I’ll give you a free copy of my Building an eBook Empire eBook. Or, you can have my Social Networking on Squidoo eBook – or both!
Ruth made it to #6 on Google for diabetes treatment tips! That’s awesome!
I noticed Frank’s lens wound up #11 in Google for 2008 US Presidential Candidates, too – pretty impressive. No telling how much you can make off that lens in the coming year if you keep helping it rise in the ranks.
Thanks to all who participated. Sorry I was MIA most of the time. I really hadn’t planned on launching so soon but got a JV unexpectedly so I had to rush to make it happen. My apologies ![]()
I’ll try to do another in May, but I’m also launching a mentorship for my Building an eBook Empire buyers, so I may just leave the Forum open and let everyone launch a contest at the forum. If anyone learned any new tips this time around, let me know! Always happy to hear about Squidoo – and check out my How to build a lens video on YouTube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stZ509QNaDs
