What Questions Do You Have About Squidoo?

Hi everyone!

As you know, I am in a partnership with mastermind genius Lewis Smile - a Squidoo expert who blows me away when it comes to leveraging Squidoo to milk it for cold, hard cash. We’re working on something that’s going to blow you away when you see it. But first, we want to make sure we address your needs.

So how about it - what are the burning questions you have about Squidoo?

No question’s too big or too small. Just ask. Post it here in the comments section. Then sit up and stay tuned…

I have a really hard time getting html code to “take” in my modules. I’ll type in the code to add a live link (SO much easier on a blog!), save and publish, and then the code drops and only the tags are left. I sometimes do this three times or more and eventually, I get a live link, but the frustration almost makes it not worth the effort. For example, the above blog is loaded with links, but the corresponding squidoo lens isn’t http://www.squidoo.com/booktours. The blog is interesting and juicy, the lens is not. Mostly that’s because the lens is not user-friendly for the creator.

I’m completely at a loss. I think I’ve put together a decent Squidoo lens (http://www.squidoo.com/naturalcureforacidreflux/). It’s informative, takes advantage of many of the modules, I update it fairly regularly, and I’ve received hundreds of visitors. But no one has rated the lens, and far more important, I haven’t made a single sale from the lens.

What is missing? What do I need to do into order to properly monetize the lens?

    Hey Tiff,
I’m really glad you asked. I love squidoo. It’s fun and easy. But what I don’t like is that you have to start with three(or is it five?) modules. The other thing that makes me not want to bother is that it needs continual updating or else it will plummet to the depths of obscurity no matter what the keyword or subject. I thought putting in the RSS module would be the answer. But as far as I can tell, new RSS data in the module does not “update” the lens.

Don’t mean to be mercenary, but I’m looking for solutions that can run on autopilot for the most part(yeah, who isn’t?). Maybe something that needs only sporadic attention as opposed to constant attention like Squidoo does. Or do you have tips that I have missed?

I commute and work over 12 hours a day, so I get very little time with my wife and two little girls. That’s why I became interested in IM in the first place. But I’m still struggling after two years at it.

Have you yet developed recommended monetizing tips for ever.com?

    Scott

  • Alban:

In my Greatest-Message-Ever page I tried to come up with content that I wrote myself. Yet Squidoo does not seem to give much value to that? Some lenses have nearly no content at all, and yet have much better ratings. I don’t quite get that.
    Cheers,

    Hey Tiffany ,

    Squidoo is a Great Media for Self-Expression on the Web ;
    A virtual : “Wikipedia + MySpace “….but once you’ve got a good-to-decent rating…it drops rather
    quick.

Maybe , you can come up with ‘ incentive-strategies’ for getting
    lens-visitors to leave comments.
    Kind Regards,
    Larry

  • $1000 in 10 Days:

I’ve heard from other Squidoo marketers that since the Google slap, it’s hard to get new lens highly ranked these days. What say you?

  • Karsten:

My number one problem - as it is for most people I guess - is to get targeted converting traffic. It doesn’t seem to matter what I do!

Of cause - I don’t just want any traffic - I want targeted traffic, and people who would buy when they go to your site.

What frustrates me is that I see internet marketers send 200+ visits to their lens in 24 hrs. “just by bookmarking here and there” - when I get 2 visitors from doing the same bookmarks (digg - delicious - stumbleupon).

I realise that you probably have to do some hard work before this happens - ie become a trusted authority on these networking sites and get lots of friends etc. - but I’m not scared of hard work. I just want to know what it is that you do to get those amount of visitors.

Also - I’ve got 40+ lenses - most of them with some good, relevant and unique content - yet I have still to make one single sale. How do you get sales? Just a small commission from an amazon module would get me excited ;o)

Enough of my rambling…… Thanks for your attention….

    Hi Tiff:

I just published my second lens, http://www.squidoo.com/ebizsuccess. My main reason for doing this is to make more than what I am getting from my other lens (www.squidoo.com/maroon5rocks) to “fund” all those internet marketing courses I keep buying, hoping one of them will make me thousands of dollars a month so I can quit my day job. So my no. 1 problem would be sticking to one type of online business module and focus on making it work instead of buying lots of ebooks and not taking any action.

    Regards,

    Evon

For some reason, google is not listing my lens… I have put lots of content but still its not getting google love.

What do you suggest the correct steps… how many modules to start with and how many days after that we should update it and what should be the update frequency

    Hi Tiff,
    I would like to submit three lenses from the ever project for your consideration. They are all doing pretty good, considering that they are only a week or so old. Here they are for you to consider;

    Hi Tiffany,

My question is, I can’t get my poll module to work, it never shows up with the option buttons for readers to click on.

    Hi Tiffany

Just want to know is Squidoo still a viable option considering this whole Google slap thingy?

  • Frankie Kangas:

How do you get gather your stats out of Squidoo? No one I’ve talked to can figure out how to do an RSS feed from the 2 stat pages. It’d be nice to grab them off those pages to put into a spreadsheet so we can really do some real analysis, etc. It’d be even better if we could use Google Analytics on our sites. Thanks!
