SquidWho?
Squidoo has launched a new service called SquidWho. It’s considered another “front door to the site, and you’ll want to dominate in this area if you have any lenses built around a person, like yourself for branding or someone else like a famous Internet marketer, for instance.
SquidWho - at http://www.squidoo.com/squidwho/hq does much of the work for you. Here’s how it works:
You enter the name of someone you want the lens to be about. For my example, I typed in Ronald Reagan. The system goes onto the web in a few seconds and grabs information for the lens and builds part of it for you, including a Wkipedia entry, YouTube videos, Yahoo! news file, and Amazon products.
Once it delivers the information, it’ll give you the option of claiming the lens or not. When you claim it, it’s like any other lens in your dashboard as far as letting you edit it by adding and deleting modules, tagging it, putting it in a group, and so on.
But the cool thing about SquidWho is that only one lens per person dominates the search. When I built my lens, someone else had grabbed www.squidoo.com/ronaldreagan, so I had to go with one where the lens URL was hyphenated: http://www.squidoo.com/ronald-reagan.
But when someone lands on Squidoo via the SquidoWho service, and types in Ronald Reagan, my site is the only site that they land on because my lens is the one ranked highest.
In fact, even though I’m Tiffany Dow, if you went in and made a Tiffany Dow lens that ranked higher than me, your lens would show up - not mine! It make syou work hard for that top coveted spot on SquidWho.
Go test drive it now. I love the layout of these lenses, too - they look snazzy! And check out my Ronald Reagan lens to see what I’m doing with it.
